What is 'Fixed LTE'
“Fixed LTE Service” means Long Term Evolution services locked onto a specific MTN base station (does not allow for Roaming) and will make use of the Network Infrastructure as defined by MTN. Fixed LTE Services shall only work in the Coverage Area.
How long does it take for the MTN Fixed LTE service to become active once delivered?
The MTN Fixed LTE SIM / Service will be active within 48 hours after RICA has been submitted. The user needs to insert the simcard into an approved router, which has the APN ws.is.fwa set, for the activation to take place on the network.
Can this service be used "on the go" or at an alternative location?
No, MTN Fixed LTE is a fixed location service, the SIM, Device and Location is paired and will result in a “soft lock” if moved. It is not a mobile service.
What is needed to RICA the SIM?
You must take delivery of the SIM in person. You need the following original documents and copies of these documents to successfully complete RICA verification:
- Your ID document
- Proof of address dated not older than 3 months.
Proof of address documents include:
- Utility bills, cell phone accounts, store accounts
The proof of address MUST MATCH the installation address you have selected.
What if I move to a new address
You will need to advise Inspiretec so that your address can be updated on the system if it is within the network coverage area.
Can I use the MTN Fixed LTE SIM card in any device?
No, The Fixed LTE Service only works in MTN approved CAT6 and above devices (refer to list). If the SIM is removed and put in another device (phone, tablet, Mi-Fi) the service will soft lock.
