What speeds can I expect from my 5G?

5G can reach maximum speeds of up to 500Mbps, which are blazing fast speeds. However, maximum speeds cannot be guaranteed as several factors affect speed and quality of the connect which include, but are not limited to distance, weather, and interference around and within the property.

The device used plays an important role in us giving you a great speed experience, which is why we recommend buying your router from us. Also, because of the nature of the wireless network, we cannot offer any SLA’s on the service.

How long does it take to activate after delivery?

After plugging your SIM card into the 5G compatible router, you should be active within 30 minutes after delivery. In extreme cases it can take up to 72 hours, but this is greatly doubtful. Should you have trouble connecting after 30 minutes, please reboot your device and try to connect again.

Can I use this service on the go or only at certain locations?

The 5G service is designed to be used for your home or office, and MTN will lock the service to the address for where you place an order to use the service.

Can I upgrade my 5G service?

Yes, if you are currently on the 5G Pro and the 5G Pro+ packages, then upgrades can be facilitated via your Control Panel. You can upgrade your package anytime during the month, and then for the rest of the month you will be charged pro-rata.

Which devices can I use with this service?

ZTE MC801A and the HUAWEI 5G CPE Pro 2.

If I order the SIM only what are the router settings?

To get connected you will need to:

  1. Insert your MTN LTE SIM card into the router. Ensure the SIM card is the correct size and facing the correct direction.
  2. Switch on the router, waiting 10 minutes before restarting it to begin the provisioning process.
  3. After restarting, connect the laptop/PC via the LAN connection or via WiFi. The WiFi name and password should be on a sticker on the underside of the router.
  4. Once the Laptop or PC is connected open a web browser (Chrome, Firefox, Edge, etc.) Type in 192.168.8.1 in the address bar. The router will normally have a landing page address on the sticker underneath the router.
  5. Select the settings tab on the top menu. It will prompt for the username and password which should both by default be –
    • Username: admin
    • Password: admin
  6. Once into the settings page on the left-hand menu, select “dial up” and under the drop down select “Profile management.”
  7. Select “New profile” and under name, type in: inspiretec and under APN: ws.axxess.fwa
  8. Select “Save”
  9. Make sure the profile is selected from the drop-down menu and click “Apply.”
  10. Please restart the device again.
  11. Connect to the internet.
  12. If connection fails, attempt steps 10 & 11 periodically over the next 24 hours.
